support staff, and volunteers who put in countless hours each week
to minister to people in our church and in our community. Here's a
few insights and fun facts about them...
Pastor Joe Grizzle

What was your childhood hobby? - Flying model airplanes.
What is your day job?- Senior Pastor at CrossPointe for 27+ years.
What's your idea of the perfect day? - Fishing on Taneycomo and
playing cards with friends.
What was your first job? - My own paper route when I was only 12.
What is your greatest memory? - My wedding and birth of my two children.
What is your favorite movie? - High Noon with Gregory Peck. Best cowboy movie ever.
What has God been showing you lately that has surprised you? - The power of
organization to improve performance.
What is your biggest dream? - Thousands from Norman making heaven their home.

Why did you come to CrossPointe? - I want to be where God is at work
and join Him there.
Who inspires you? - Our committed ministry volunteers.
What was your first job? - Selling cokes at OU games.
What is your greatest indulgence? - Chocolate stuff
What's your biggest challenge? - Staying away from chocolate stuff.

Why did you come to CrossPointe? - I've been a part of the Free Will Baptist Church
for my entire life, so when I moved to Norman in 1972, we naturally came to CrossPointe.
What's your idea of the perfect day? - A good, hearty breakfast, time with my wife,
time with my friends at the church, visiting someone in the hospital or nursing home,
and dinner with my wife.
Who inspires you? - Winston Churchhill - He is probably the greatest statesman
in recent history.
What is your greatest memory? - December 7, 1941 - Pearl Harbor - My role model
was my uncle and I knew he was supposed to have been at Pearl Harbor. It still
brings tears to my eyes when I think about how I felt when I heard the news on
the radio that we had been attacked. It turns out though, that he was one day
away from arriving at the base.
What's one goal you have for the next year? - ITo get the food pantry and several

Your greatest indulgence? - Ice Cream
Your last purchase? - A Chocolate Malt!!!!!!!

What is your definition of a retreat? - By myself in a coffee shop.
What's your greatest inspiration? - Seeing people in a community working together to
accomplish God inspired dreams.
What's your idea of a perfect day? - A day with my wife and family.

What did you want to be when you grew up? - Mafia
What's your idea of the perfect day?- Sleeping through the night, waking up at 9am, a
loaded omelete and Americano with my family, playing xbox with my son, bratwursts for
lunch and a movie with my daughters, mid-day nap with my wife, dinner at Red Robin with
my wife, finding out what the black smoke is on Lost, watching "So I Married an Axe
Murderer" with my wife, go back to sleep. Repeat.
What's one goal you have for the next year? - To learn Hebrew.
What's your greatest inspiration? - Seeing anyone give up a morning, afternoon, evening
to attend anything I'm a part of.
What's your biggest dream? - Six pack abs.
Michael Abbott

Why did you come to CrossPointe?- I felt like this is where God wanted me.
What is your idea of the perfect day? - Wake up at 10am, watch Seinfeld, eat lunch at Ted's, play golf, spend the afternoon with Brenna and our dogs, eat dinner at Ted's, go
home and sleep. If this were to happen every day over and over like the movie
Groundhog Day, I would be fine with that.
What's something new that you're learning in your job that has surprised you? -
The dependability of teenagers. Most of them are much more dependable than we give
them credit for.
What is your greatest memory? - If I don't say my wedding, I'm sure to pay for it later.
But a close second would be cruising on road trips with Clemency, and DC with John,
Tommy, and Dustin.
What are you passionate about now, that you used to not care about? -
Today's youth.
What's your biggest challenge? Waking up early for anything.

What is your greatest inspiration? - Witnessing a child who has had no Christian influence
begin to experience the Holy Spirit at work in their lives.
What is your biggest dream? - To have the ability to reach every child in our community, to
watch their lives change, to be an instrument of God, and to a part of the Light in our dark
world.
